The best kite festivals are Zilker Kite Festivals

For all of you local Austinites, today was the 84th annual Zilker Kite Festival and if you weren't there you missed a beautiful day.  70 degrees, sunny, 10 mph breezes..... perfect.  Good pics below.

That boy loubie was ready for some kite action

Lilly and J Bo are ready to roll

Linz got me a killer sweet pirate ship kite

For some reason unknown to me, J Bo thought my ear made a good popsicle holder

Great views of down town from Zilker

Emily birthday party spread

Had a blast today!  We celebrated Em's bday.  Got to fly kites with the niece and nephews.  Had some amazing ague fresca.  Spent a lot of time chilling under our new pop up canopy.  Oh, and Louie is a rock star. Can't wait for next year.

Cool. No worries. It is what it is.

New Home Project, catching up the last 3 months

Hello all,
Yes I'm still alive, just haven't posted in 3+ months.  Why? Well, I started a new career, and it's summer in ATX, and I have spent most moments at home just sleeping, traveling or doing some reading.  In the last few months I have read a Gladwell (What the Dog Saw), a modern Christian ethics book (A Generous Orthodoxy), a book about the history of Maine lobster fisherman (The Lobster Coast), and I just started "Call of the Wild" and "White Fang"..... I know, I'm all over the place.  Blake has been living with us this summer which has been a blast.  And he has turned the garage into his art studio, so next time any of you are by the house we will have several new paintings on the walls.  I have also been doing a ton of home projects.  Linz and I finally have a total "vision" on the house, and hopefully we will start pulling it all together soon.  So below are a few pics of the latest job, the fence.  Oh first you need to understand that re-doing the fence was necessary after Abby made The Great Puppy Escape of 2011 by pushing through a rotten board while we were in the Caymans and ran through the neighborhood like a wild banshee until the neighbors all helped corral her.  Ok, so here are the pics.

First the inspiration.

Then the Nick of the Day.

Then the Before
(actually the neighbors fence, I didn't take a before of mine, but it looked the same)

The During

The Finish

Well, I think it turned out pretty good.  I guess the only way to know if it will work is to turn the dog loose and see how long it takes her to get out.  Oh well.  Best wishes.  Thanks for the read.
